If this sounds like the right opportunity to help your community, apply today to join our nonprofit!A DAY IN THE LIFE OF AN EMPLOYMENT PLACEMENT / VOCATIONAL REHABILITATION SPECIALISTAs an Employment Placement / Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist in human services, you work with nonprofit organizations and employers to coordinate volunteer and employment opportunities for our clients.
As you build trust and rapport, you're able to get our program participants fully engaged.
You get to know them along with their skills and interests in order to help find the best opportunities.
Participants are matched based on their vocational evaluations, work requirements, and needs for accommodations.
You're sure to validate retention benchmarks at 30, 90, and 180 days for working participants.
You also conduct follow-up calls and check-ins with them to ensure that they are meeting their required hours.
Developing and maintaining strong relationships with employers and nonprofit organizations is an important part of your job.
You reach out to them on a regular basis to learn about new vacancies.
You check in to ensure their satisfaction with the individuals you have placed with them.
When concerns pop up, you are quick to take action and find resolutions.
With attention to detail, you keep meticulous records and documentation of all communication that occurs between participants and employers.
Working with WRI and others, you host hiring events within the community.
You create and employ recruitment strategies for hiring events, retention events, and on-site employer panels.
